About
About the archive
Astradyne is an independent reference work on Ultravox, 1974–2013. It is a catalogue, not a fan site, a news service or a shop.
Why it exists
There is an official site, ultravox.org.uk, run by fans with the band's recognition since the Extreme Voice fanzine began in 1984. It is the place for news, interviews and the community. There is now an authorised biography. What did not exist was a sourced catalogue of everything the band released and played, and of what was written about them. That is the gap this archive fills.
The name
"Astradyne" is the instrumental that opens Vienna (1980). An earlier, unrelated site used this domain. Its pages are gone; where old links pointed at material of the same kind, they now lead to the new equivalent.
Independence
The archive has no connection with the band, their management, their labels or the official site. It carries no advertising and no affiliate links.
Who makes it
The site is built and maintained by Miraks. Editorial decisions follow the method on the sources page: every fact needs a source, and nothing is published as reviewed until it has been checked against one.
Using the data
The facts are published as open data under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Please cite "Astradyne Ultravox archive" with the page address. Corrections and new sources are welcome through the corrections form; contributors are credited if they wish.
